Welcome!

Yellow flower

Greetings everyone!

My name is Jenna and I am in quite a tight spot.

A little about myself.. I graduated from college last year and have not been able to find a job using my degree. I started a Masters program three months ago and am doing well in that. I have a job and work full time. I paid my through undergraduate school delivering pizzas and am still doing that. Hey, it pays the bills. Well, for the last few years I was living in a run-down apartment in a rather questionable neighborhood near campus. The building was old with high ceilings and hardwood floors and of course poorly-insulated. Needless to say, heating it was insanely high...more than my rent in the cold months so I spent most of the winter bundled up and cold. The water was never hot so most of the winter months I just showered whenever or wherever I could find someone to let me use theirs. Many times going a week or two without. The ceiling leaked in two rooms, so bad in the living room that I could no longer use that room. It ruined my couch and many of my other belongings, not to mention those hardwood floors. Well I scrimped and saved for over year in attempts to get a new place and one thing after another would go wrong. I had three major ($500 - $1500) car repairs, not to mention numerous other financial setbacks. Since I have always had to work and save for anything I want/need I am very well familiar with the setbacks so I guess I expected that in a way. Well I was finally able to move into a new apartment about a month ago. I moved in around Thanksgiving. The new apartment is great. The hot water works, it's well-insulated and estimated heating bills are less than $100/month....and the greatest part of all...I am paying the same amount in rent each month as I was at the old place. My pets love it too...it's warm, carpeted and a wooded view! "So what's the problem?"

Well, a few years ago I was living in a nearby town with a roomate. Well most of the utilities were in my name and when we went our separate ways we divided up the bills each was responsible for and I moved across the river to a bordering state. Well last month while moving in I called the local gas & electric company to activate my new serivce. Okay fine, I thought everything was in order. Two days ago, I found out they would not put new service into my name because the old bill was unpaid. Apparently my old roomate did not pay the bill and then gave someone else's address as my forwarding address for the bill. So this was all just brought to my attention two days ago when the apartment complex that I am currently living in contacted me about getting the service switched into my name. So basically I have about two weeks to come up with $740 to pay the gas and electric company or my service will be shut off. Okay well I would be willing to live without electricty/gas for awhile but my lease states and the apartment complex stressed when I spoke with them that if my services are shut off or if I fail to take the gas & electric out of their name then I will be violating my lease thus EVICTION!

I offered to work out a payment plan with the gas & electric company but they refuse because the account is so old. I tried to get a loan but because my student loans were in default when I started my Masters program that won't work either. I work full time and make enough to pay my bills, I just don't have any extra....especially not $740 lying around. I am just working with such strict and short time constraints to come up with that much money in the short time I have. I really don't have anything of value to sell.

I just don't have the money to pay the entire bill and really have no means of getting it in such a short time. I don't have anyone who can put my service in their name nor do I have any place that my pets and I can stay. Basically, if I cannot pay this bill I have no place to live which means the pets and I will be living out of my old Jeep (also without a working heater right now.)

I am a good-hearted person and help others as much as I can. I am also a very hard-worker and have worked for everything I have needed since I was real young. I have a strong work ethic and spent all day trying to find a second job that would work with my full time job and school schedules. I really don't want to quit school I have worked so hard to get to where I am. I am more than willing to repay or do some work for you to repay anyone kind enough to help me out.

Anything you can spare, no matter how large or small the donation would be a blessing and would be paid back.

Take time to appreciate life no matter how small something may appear.

Any donation you can spare will be greatly appreciated! Every penny adds up to help! Please email me or leave a guest response if there is anything I can do in return for the donation. I am also willing to repay if you would send your contact info. If you would rather donate directly to the gas and electric company, I am sure I can arrange that somehow just send me an email.
Thanks so much for helping to keep a roof over our heads!
